It all started here as we were Galloping the Globe. This week we studied South Korea!
Get out the ingredients!
Chef Carter (in his homemade chef hat) is ready for action!
After I sliced the steak and the kids made the marinade the real fun began...
Look at those hands!!!!!
Preparing the marinade for the perch...
mix it up....
Now it is time for slicing
zucchini. Aubrey gave it a whirl...
...as did Andrew (I took my chances that he wouldn't lose a finger)....
... and Carter took his turn as well!
We had to let our beef and fish sit for 30 minutes.
In Korea it is custom to place each item served in a separate bowl (they typically use silver and much small bowls than we did). They also sit on
the ground at a very low table.... we skipped that part... no short table here! We did however take on one custom.....
CHOP STICKS! Andrew was perfectly content to stab his food...
Rusty had
the hang of it and devoured it...
Aubrey was caught in amazement that she, too, could do it....
And Carter was successful! We had some great steamed rice with our fish, beef and squash! We'll do better next time (maybe) on pronunciation of the things we made! Another interesting fact that we found out is that about 50% of South Koreans are Christian (the others are Buddhists).
