PLAYGROUND UPDATE!

To date Aubrey has raised $2487.50 and we still have about $100 more to collect from bird houses (we even got a couple of new orders last night). The Children's Home also received several donations directly after the three articles ran in our local and middle Tennessee papers. God has shown us repeatedly that HE truly does abundantly more than we would ever expect. Below is a picture of the playground after it had been stripped of everything that was not cemented in the ground.
We had breakfast and devotions with Mike, Barb and the kids and then we went to work. Rusty and Andrew are moving the sand out.
The temperature was in the 20's this day. As Rusty spread gravel (that was donated by a friend) the kids had to pick out the frozen chunks and load them in the bucket of the bobcat.
Getting a scoop of gravel to make a firm foundation for the mulch.
Rusty could spread most of the gravel with the bobcat but some had to be raked by hand.
The surface area is now ready for mulch... or so we thought!!
Some of the older kids from the home helped us load the mulch we had already purchased and take it back to the playground.
We had an assembly line from a storage room to the pickup truck.
After the mulch was loaded we went back to the playground.
Aubrey is cutting open the first bag of mulch with the assistance of Mike, the director.
And here it goes....
After Aubrey emptied the first bag one of us remembered that the man who has offered to purchase the remaining mulch and install it for $1000 is including a weed paper barrier. Needless to say we stopped at one bag this day! We hope to see a completed project in the near future! Thanks again for all of your support!
