Mammoth Cave Camping

Rusty and the kids had great time camping this past weekend. Of course, the highlight was going into the cave. The kids are still talking about it. They are spending a few nights with my parents while I work at our church camp and last night they (the 2 older ones) wrote a little report on what they learned. This trip involved friends and now new friends. I wonder how these experiences go without a mom there. I neatly folded up outfits for the kids and from the pictures they are not wearing anything I put together. I'm glad they can relax and not care what they look like.... that comes all too soon for so many. I realize more and more that we want to be our best and present ourselves in a positive way but it can get wrapped up in all the wrong things... thankful to still be learning!

Below is most of the gang that went camping. They all piled in Rusty's truck to get to the buses for the cave and then to ride across the ferry.
The kids will remember this for a long time. The only disappointment was not getting to swim. The plan was to swim in the river and as you can see in the above picture the water was a little muddy:( A friendly game of kickball brought smiles back to their faces! Two thumbs up for a great weekend!

Hey Carter,
I can't believe how much you've grown. It looks like you are doing some really fun and exciting things. Maybe you can come by and teach us all about the life cycle of a frog - since you're going to know first hand!! Have a great summer - we miss you.
