still learning

Aubrey has what I consider a bad habit of wearing the same Scales Elementary and WOC Choir t-shirts over and over and over. It really wears me out! I want her to dress a little more girly and cute. As we were nearing the end of our check out at Walmart last week the cashier says to Aubrey (who is wearing a choir t-shirt), "Are you still in the choir at that church?" She answers politely with a, "yes mam". The cashier proceeds to tell us that she goes to the same church and her son who is 8 has really struggled with going to class over the last year or two but is finally going. She also told us that he had an accident at Karate that sliced the palm side of his 4 fingers to where he needed stitches (she showed us a picture on her cell phone, yuck). Then she said I tell you this to ask you to pray for him. Pray that he will adjust to class and that his hand will heal properly and that he will have full use of his fingers. You know the Lord smacked me with that one! It hit me in the heart- hard! If Aubrey had not been wearing that shirt I don't think the cashier would have ever of asked us to pray for her son, Timmy. I had to repent before God and Aubrey for being too concern of what other people thought about what she was wearing. What is an image anyway, is it in our dress or our heart? Aubrey has a huge heart for others. The Lord is teaching me to evaluate the motives of my heart in many areas of my life. It has been a blessing to hear the kids pray for Timmy (or the cash register's son as Andrew has said). I hate to think we would have missed that opportunity had Aubrey not been wearing her choir shirt. So as the story goes I am still learning, still be molded and still pressing forward along with the kids!

Love it! Isn't it great how God uses our children to make us feel so small sometimes.

That is such a great story and one I think we can all relate to as parents!
