During the week I noticed a wrapped gift under the Christmas tree (up until this point there was nothing). I was asked by the end of the afternoon if I had noticed and I said yes. By that evening Aubrey brought it to me and it read, to: Mom and Dad love: Aubrey. She insisted that I open it NOW. She didn't even want me to wait for Rusty. I did and what I found was a jewelry box with cash and change in it. Aubrey tells me it is everything she had in her wallet and that she wants us to have it to put towards the adoption. I told her I was pleased with her thoughtfulness and big heart but that I wanted her to keep it. Nope. She wouldn't have it. She actually seemed offended on some level that I didn't grab her in my arms and immediately accept it. I offered to use half and save the other half. If we needed it I would use it and if we didn't need it then I would give it back to her (with every intention of giving it back to her). She was very insistent that I keep the total sum of $21.74. She is decorating a jar to place the money in until it is needed and wants us to put all of our loose change in there as well. Aubrey has always had an incredible heart and does a great job of putting others before herself.

Sounds like someone else I know--you. (And Rusty too, of course.)
What a beautiful girl! And what great parents to raise such an unselfish, giving person!
Your kids are awesome.
