thursday was good

Thursday we were off to the races! We had to finish getting documents notarized and then we had to go to the county clerk in Rutherford County as well as Davidson County to get our notaries verified (an extra step that TN requires). One document was declined in Rutherford county due to the Dr.'s signature, it did not match the signature in the log book at the county clerks office. So back to the Dr.'s office we went and she graciously re-signed our medical forms (she is also a notary) and back we went to the county clerk and then we were on the road to Nashville to pay a visit to the Secretary of State. After signing in and passing through security we were in the office with no one waiting ahead of us! She quickly got our documents authenticated and we were off again!

This is the kids waiting at the clerks office, only Rusty went in here.

A shot of the capital building in Nashville.

The documents are stamped and in our possession.

Someone mentioned lunch on the way back to the parking garage so we gave this little cafe a shot and it was good AND cheap!

Here they lie, all but Rusty's birth certificate. It had to be authenticated in MS.

So today our documents went to DC. We found out that the Dept of State is only accepting 6 documents at a time so our courier is going to have to make 3 trips on our behalf. Her plan is to go Mon, Tues, and Wed. On Wednesday she will take our documents to the Embassy of Rwanda and then go back and pick them up when they are ready. After that we will mail our dossier to Rwanda and wait. When we initially started this journey we were looking at receiving a referral in 3-6 months but now it is 9+ months. We thought we would travel in September of 2010 but now it looks like a year from now. Only God knows. I can say that we will not sit idly by and do nothing. God has brought us together with some amazing couples in our community and we have been able to start an Orphan/Adoption Awareness ministry in Murfreesboro, The 1:27 Call. We will be investing time there, we will be praying for our son and daughter and other orphans around the world, we will serve in our community and church and know that God has perfect timing. I am frustrated with the time delay but know there is a purpose. We will live each day that we are given to live and know that each day is one day closer to our son and daughter!

Several have asked about names and we had thrown some names around but have decided that we will wait to get our referral and know their given names before we make a decision so for now, we call them son and daughter or brother and sister.
