a new year

A new year always brings about change in our house.  Many times it is temporary and full of good intentions but without fruition.  So, instead of resolutions this year we are aiming for transformation in our lives.  We want to be more spiritually and physically healthy.  We want to be purposeful in all things.  Tonight at bedtime we talked to the kids about some "changes" we would like to make.  We are deciding who or what we want to be and then deciding HOW to become that person or posses that characteristic.  As we heard in church this morning it can be tough to just stay the same (maintain position as a Christian), change (a deeper more in-depth walk) takes lots of hard work.  We were challenged to find a person group that God has given us a heart for... we know ours is vulnerable children and the poor.  We were encouraged to find like minded people and meet with them and do God's work together, build community.  The sermon was based from Romans 12:1-2 and we have recently memorized these verses with the kids so it was AMAZING for Aubrey and Carter to hear a 45 minute breakdown of what these verses mean.  At 9 and 10 years old they are really getting it.  We are looking forward to a new year.  We hope to fall more deeply in love with Jesus, bring 2 more children into our home, find a new church home and be more generous in all things.

Happy New Year to you all!
