Making bird feeders.........

The kids and I headed to see Dr. Bradley after breakfast this morning so they could get their well check-ups that they were so very far behind on. Since that took all morning we decided to do school "light" today which included making two bird feeders and then writing about the experience. Aubrey and Carter are able to write on their own but since Andrew can't I allow him to tell me about his experience and then I write it down and put it in his notebook. He feels included that way. They each had a blast!
This is the science curriculum that we are using this year! The kids have really enjoyed it! We read together, notebook, do experiments and have projects related to our lessons.
Andrew is working really hard to make that skewer go through the coke bottle to make a perch for the birds that will visit!
The most fun part of the project for the kids was pouring the seeds into the bottles. We ended up making a funnel out of a sheet of paper since there was as much seed going onto the ground as there was going into the bottle. (Notice that Andrew outgrew his Buzz costume over a year ago... he just doesn't want to give it up!)

The bird feeders are complete with seeds for eating and wire for hanging.

Now we have to wait. Aubrey and Carter will sit in their playhouse and wait for birds to come so they can take pictures and document what birds visit our yard!
