Spring??

This is the look of Spring at the Rutledge house! I mowed and Rusty did the weed eating and it was a glorious smell! Between birds singing and the smell of grass my spirits are high despite several sad and depressing reports on various people we know. It is great to appreciate the Lord's work and delight in knowing He did it for us!
Since Spring is here it is time to get out the dirt--bagged dirt that is!
Aubrey is in charge of starting the watermelon, pepper, yellow squash and zucchini seeds and then will also be in charge of them when we transplant them to our garden.
Andrew is heading up our cucumbers now and tomatoes when we get the seeds!
Seeds ready to be covered with soil and watered.
And Carter is in charge of the okra--his favorite thing we grow. When we it is time to plant the green beans he will head that up also.
The purpose of the egg carton is to hold the extra water.
The first planted seeds are in their home in the backyard. Rusty made me a mini greenhouse--if that is what you would like to call it. It is made out of an old door, ply wood, pieces of old posts and a set of glass doors that he bought on clearance for $9--they had originally be $300!! This is our first year to try this so we'll let you know how successful we are!
What a lesson as we learn how to garden in our yard and our hearts:
6
Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:6-8

Rusty needs to sell his green house invention...I would buy one. :)

Looking forward to following the garden...we may be asking you a few questions this season!

Hey Elizabeth,

I found your blog from your FB profile. Always cool to find a fellow blogger. Joe and I enjoyed seeing pictures and reading about your family.
We are going to start homeschooling in the fall, Bethany will be in Kindergarten. I was home schooled, so I know what I'm in for but so glad I can do it. It will be fun, and so worth all the hard work.
We are kinda in a transition, we've been coming to Hendersonville for church every Sunday for a few months now. It's 2 hours from where we live. Maybe we can meet up with you guys some time.
Blessings, Miranda
