a busy place

The excitement built all last week.

The cousins and grandmother were coming!

Friday night MaSue (Rusty's mom) and our 3 nieces came to spend the night.  We get to have them with us for 9 nights... I know this because my kids have told me over and over!

With 8 kids, the house is full of life (that is a nice way of saying it is NOISY)!  They are having fun!

The 4-wheelers ran most of the day Saturday.  The kids explored some more and found all kinds of "treasures".

Today we went to church and made it on time- wow!  The rainy afternoon led to a movie and then some trampoline time because it is always so much more fun when it is wet!

We classify the kids into groups, younger, middle and older kids.

After devotions the younger kids (Hope, Benjamin, and Alli) went to bed, the middle kids (Andrew and Taylor) played HeadBandz with the adults and the older kids (Aubrey, Caroline and Carter) made cake pops.

We love that the kids are close to their cousins.

Meal means that the oldest and the middle eat at the counter
and the youngest eat at the table with the adults...

oh, the play dough things we have...
play dough = hours of entertainment!!!  i love it, the mess is totally worth it!

the cakes pop makers...

if you don't have the game headbandz, you need to... lots of laughs!!

I never posted about our new "pets"...

aubrey has a couple of salamanders, tadpoles and frogs...

we found out the hard way that the salamanders eat the tadpoles and frogs!!

andrew and his bones collections... these are from a horse...
we have lots of bones, skulls, a turtle shell, antlers, and the list goes on (we may start a museum, ha)!

and last but NOT least we have a wolf spider...
this is it in a quart size jar.  carter feeds it flies and moths and it is pretty interesting to watch it eat its prey.  it is in a terrarium now and has escaped once!  yes, i got to find it, very unexpectedly at 1:30am as I was up closing windows due to the rain.  i did what anyone who is a little uncertain (or just plain scared) of spiders would do, I called for Rusty!

So who knows whats up next.

I am sure there will be lots of fun cousin posts:)

SIDE NOTE ON HOPE...
I think I mentioned in post not too long ago about Hope having some small seizures (absence seizures), usually a second or two long.  She had one tonight, her worst... and it went something like this...
extreme laughter and dancing to sudden hard breath-holding crying to limp/lifeless body with blank stare to snuggling up to my chest.  VERY SCARY... everyone here saw it, Aubrey cried, my heart pounded.  Hope was fine, it lasted less than a minute but felt like an eternity while it was happening.  We are researching this and going to talk to a counselor friend we have that helps kids from hard places.  We are praying that this will quickly pass and that there will not be any more seizure activity.  What we seem to have figured out is that when she feels like too much attention or pressure is on her this happens.  She also has been closing her eyes when people talk to her to shut them out... she can also have a seizure but her newest thing is to close her eyes and block things out.

Oh my! I would have killed the spider at 1:30 in the morning and never thought anything about it until the devastation hit when the kids got up. You are a better mother than me. Lol!
